Title: Federal Taxes for Freelancers

Presenter: Ben Lederman, CPA

Description:

In this session, Ben Lederman, CPA will discuss the basics of federal taxes for freelancers, including:
- Keeping books and records
- The basics of federal income tax filing
- Paying tax estimates
- Contributing to retirement plans and the tax benefits of doing so.

Presenter Bio:

Ben Lederman is a tax manager at CohnReznick LLP. As a member of the Private Client Services Group, he specializes in working with high net worth individuals and their families on their tax needs, including handling returns for individuals, closely-held businesses, family investment vehicles, trusts, gifts, and tax planning. Beyond client service work, Ben is also the chairman of the Social Impact Committee for CohnReznick’s New York office. In this capacity, Ben oversees all of the community service projects the New York Office undertakes. Ben is an active member of the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA). He is the current chairman of the Personal Financial Planning Committee and an active member of both the Taxation of Individuals Committee and the Tax Division Oversight Committee. In recognition of his career accomplishments and his active role in the NYSSCPA, Ben received a Forty Under 40 Award from the NYSSCPA in 2020, the first year such awards were given out.
