We live in a vibrant and multi-cultural city where hundreds of languages are spoken in homes and in the streets besides English. The New York Circle of Translators, in partnership with MATI, TISH, The Languages of New York Project, and The State Office of Language Access, invites you to an evening of presentations, interactive activities, and networking with other language industry professionals during a fun mixer. Ashok Sinha: The Languages of New York Project
Co-creator of the 'Languages of New York' project, Ashok Sinha is a cinematographer, photographer, and producer featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Architectural Digest. His short film "Sticker City" (2019) was featured in Amazon Prime Video's All Voices Film Festival and "Pigeon Kings of Brooklyn" (2015) was chosen as a Vimeo Staff Pick.
Alejandro Cintron: Deputy Director - NYS Office of Language Access
Alejandro Cintron is the Deputy Director for the NYS Office of Languages Access (OLA), within the NYS Office of General Services. In his role, Alejandro is responsible for helping lead the office and assist in ensuring the State is providing linguistically and culturally appropriate services for our limited English proficient population accessing public state services, per NYS Language Access Law Section 202-A. This means assisting in the creation of interpretation and translation standards for state agencies, implementing best practices, creating trainings and more.
