The meeting in March will take place online!
The NYCT Board intends to continue offering events to our members to the extent possible. Our program director, Serene Su, and the rest of the Board have worked very hard on offering our March 30 meeting in online format. We will use the software platform Webex.
Monday, March 30, 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Speaker: Ibrahima Diallo, Chief of the Arabic Verbatim Reporting Section at the UN

Topic: Revision with Feedback

Please remember to renew your membership. NYCT members can invite one non-member for free, but everyone must RSVP to receive the link.

ATA CE available for ATA Certified Translators

Presentation description:

This presentation will focus on the work of the revising translator, who is put in charge of checking other translators’ work and improving its quality by making necessary changes, without re-translating the text. The process of revision can sometimes be combined with the training/coaching of a less experienced (junior) translator. How do we approach this role? What aspects do we need to focus on and what are the challenges? The presenter will illustrate the topic based on his UN experience and reflect it to a larger context which will be relevant and useful for all the translators.

Speaker bio:
Ibrahima Diallo is currently the Chief of the Arabic Verbatim Reporting Section at UN headquarters in New York. Originally from Burkina Faso, his working languages include Arabic, English and French, and he also has a proficiency certificate in Spanish. Mr. Diallo has been working as a translator, reviser, translator trainer and translation manager for the UN since 1999. He also worked extensively on the business side (defining business needs and representing the user community) in the field of CAT tools and other language technologies.
We look forward to “seeing” you online!
