New York Circle of Translators
International Translation Day Happy Hour
Saturday, September 30, 2023, 4:00-5:30 pm
232 E 9th St
New York, NY 10003
On 24 May 2017, the UN General Assembly adopted resolution 71/288 on the role of language professionals in connecting nations and fostering peace, understanding, and development, and declared 30 September as International Translation Day.
Join your translator and interpreter colleagues for an informal celebration of this milestone. Snacks will be served free of charge and, while not mandatory, we encourage everyone to buy at least one drink from the bar. Members and non-members alike are welcome!
Open Mic:
Do you have a translation, poem, or any talent you would like to showcase?
We would love to invite you to:
- Read from your own translations (published or works-in-progress). Translations may be into English or other languages.
- Read selections of your own poetry, fiction, or essays (particularly if the topic is translation-related or international, but all topics are welcome!)
- Perform a piece of your favorite music, dance, or anything you are good at.
To participate, email Program Director Alexia Klein (program_director@nyctranslators.org) with your name and a description of what you will be showcasing.
We hope to see you there!
