People, Place, Purpose: Leadership Skills in Consecutive Interpretation
Rony Gao
Thursday, July 30, 2020
6:00-7:15 PM Eastern Time
via WebEx online platform
Consecutive interpreters often find themselves acting as event facilitators, timekeepers, and cultural advisors – responsibilities that are too often overlooked in formal interpreting training. How do you help set the stage and manage time without stealing the show? How do you cover your client’s slip of the tongue without embarrassing anyone? How do you elicit applause when it’s expected?… Through case studies, anecdotes and interactive exercises, this session will bring a repertoire of tips and hacks that have been proven to be effective in managing the logistics, expectations, and rapport in a typical consecutive assignment.
