Presentation Description:
This presentation will familiarize today’s interpreters and translators with common terms associated with street drugs and criminal street gangs. More specifically, it will focus on the raging fentanyl and heroin crisis; current slang used by individuals addicted to controlled substances; current law enforcement investigational terminology; and the terms and phrases used by drug trafficking organizations engaged in the transportation and sale of illegal narcotics, and the lifestyle, terminology, hierarchy, and customs generally associated with criminal gang activity in today’s society.

Jeff Torres is currently a full-time Law Enforcement professional with over 25 years of law enforcement experience, supervision, and training. His vast experience as both an investigator and supervisor in many high-level felony investigations including, but not limited to, Homicide, Robbery, Narcotics, White Collar, Fraud, Sexual Assault, and Death Investigation, makes him uniquely qualified to present on topics that directly impact the work of professional interpreters and translators in the judicial, medical and social services fields.
